The adventure begins! May 8, 2010

The adventure began Saturday morning. We boarded the plane with much fanfare. We were greeted at Greenville/Spartanburg Airport by District Governor George Fletcher and GSE Coordinator Ken Tucker. After lots of group pictures and well wishes from George and Ken, we began the journey. The first flight took us to Dallas-Fort Worth. Beautiful weather granted us spectacular views of the Mississippi River Valey and the overflowing banks of the rivers in southern Tennessee and northern Alabama.

After a four hour layover we boarded bound for Vancouver. The flight was uneventful and I was able to watch "The Blind Side". Finally saw a movie before my husband! The Vancouver Airport International Terminal was beautiful. It was obvious some work was done to welcome Olympic visitors. We all successfully cleared customs. One the way past many people greeting arriving passengers, I caught sight of a Rotary emblem on a jacket and bravely approached. We didn't expect anyone to meet us but the District Governor for Vancouver, Gordon, had shown up as our welcoming committee. We were able to have a quick chat and then were helped to a hotel for the evening. The hospitality continued as a Rotarian connected to the hotel had arranged the rooms and we had chocolate waiting for us. A perfect way to end the day in my book!
